Stoneva General Contractors Manhattan is based on Payson Avenue in Inwood, at the northern end of Manhattan, along the edge of Inwood Hill Park.

Being based here is the practical part of the job. We know which buildings are walk-ups, what a shared service elevator does to a delivery schedule, and how long a board package really takes to come back. That knowledge does not go into the finished apartment, but it is the difference between a job that runs and a job that stalls.

How we work

One person runs your job. You get someone who knows the apartment, the building and the schedule, and you call them. Nobody is passed between numbers to find out what is happening on Tuesday.

The scope is written down. Before work starts you have the job broken into parts with a price against each one. If something changes, you see what it changes before it is done, not on the final invoice.

The building is dealt with first. Alteration agreement, board package, permits where the work needs them. All of it belongs before the first day on site.

The apartment gets protected. Sealed work areas, protected routes, debris out the same day, and the common parts left clean. Your neighbors have to live here after we finish.

The work we take on

We work on apartments: full renovations and gut jobs, kitchens, bathrooms, floors, carpentry, plaster repair and painting. We also take on interior work for small commercial spaces.

For the parts of a job that New York City licenses separately, such as plumbing and electrical work, we bring in the licensed trades and sequence them into the schedule so they arrive when the work is ready for them.
